M.A.D. Fashion Showcase

I am very excited to say, the M.A.D. Fashion Showcase was a wonderful night of alternative fashion and fun! Early last year, Clockwork Butterfly designer Alexandra Chambers and I decided that we would attempt to organise a grand gala showcasing Australian alternative designers, with a catwalk show, performers and a market. Sadly, many of the alternative fashion shows in Australia have ceased to run over the last few years, prompting our decision to run our own so that the designers would have an event in which to exhibit their creations and network.

After nearly a year of planning and preparation, the Melbourne Alternative Designers (M.A.D.) Fashion Showcase premiered on April 2nd. It was held in the stunning St Kilda Town Hall, and featured nine designers on the catwalk, performances by the talented burlesque dancer Kerryx and magicians Vegas & Madotti, and fourteen additional crafters and designers in the trader’s market. The night went wonderfully, though as both a designer and one of the organisers it was a hectic time! You can read a comprehensive review and description of all the designers by Slippery Photography here: http://slipperyphotography.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/mad-fashion-showcase-2016.html

For my own segment of the catwalk show, I had eleven models. As always for my catwalk segments, each outfit was designed for and custom made to perfectly fit each model. I feel that to properly exhibit my creations, they should be worn by the person they were designed for, as they will be worn with love and the proper flair of a well fitted garment. My models were the lovely Silhouette d’Amour, Cj Chandler, Janet Coath, Show Stopper, English Rose, Jeshua Wilson, Mad Dame, Vivien Katherine, Angeline Bubsy, Miss Twisted and Lady Lithium.

Gorejess Designs yet again did an incredible job with hair and makeup. We have worked together on several fashion shows now and various photoshoots, and every time she blows me away with her skill and creativity.
